Yvette Wibowo

2009 November 14

YVETTEToday we are delighted to invite Yvette Wibowo to tell us a little bit about herself and her passion for Scrapbooking. We are excited to tell you that Yvette is sharing her passion and skills at monthly cropping sessions in her home; we are sure you are going to be inspired.

Hi there!

I am happy to share with your clients a little about myself, but please bear with me as I explain, because  I  come to Dubai with a multi cultural background. I had a lovely childhood in Indonesia, and another awesome 18 years in the US, but my favourite place to live has always been Singapore. Now, Dubai is and will continue to be my hometown since my husband grew up here, so in a way, our family has returned home.  Professionally, over the last 15 years, I have had a variety of roles involving design, training, marketing and project management. Although I have a technical background, my true love has always been art; especially when it comes to photographs and papers. Scrapbooking allows these interests to come to life. I love to scrapbook my friends and family, especially my daughter; soon I’ll be scrapbooking the arrival of my second child.

Cardmaking by Annais

Materials: (DCS)Dubai Creative Stamps, Cardstocks, UTEE, Distress Embossing Ink, Pigment Inks,
                       Distress Ink, Foam Adhesives
Tools: Guillotine Trimmer, Inkssentials Blending Tool, Ink Blending Foam, Non-Stick Craft Sheet, Heat   Embossing Tool, Spellbinders Labels Dies, Big Shot Machine, Detailed Brush tip

I would not be able to do this technique without using Inkssentials (blending tool and  ink blending foam).  Always apply light coloured inks first if using multiple ink colors.  Another favorite dimensional medium is  UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) which produces a thick textured embossing on a stamped image. I then used a detail brush with distress ink to colour the embossed image.

I love the result of this card!

Create-A-Card #2

Cardmaking by Annais

Materials: (DCS)Dubai Creative Stamps, Inkadinkado Clear Stamps, Cardstocks, Brown Brilliance Ink, Distress Ink, Embossing Pen,  Antiquities Embossing Powder, Foam Adhesive Squares, Arabic Script Background Paper

Tools : Guillotine Trimmer,  Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool, Ink Blending Foam, Non-Stick Craft Sheet,  Heat Embossing Tool

I had so much  fun making this card. I just love the tearing and distressing techniques! I inked  the stamp with a brown brilliance ink.  I used an embossing pen and embossing powder for the palm leaves. For the arabic script writing, I photocopied it from one of my husbands  Arabic books. ( Watch out for it  in my next DCS collection ) I then crumpled the paper, tore  and wet the edges,  and then inked them with Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink .  I really like the versatility of  Brillince inks, why don’t you try them and you will see the difference.

Try it yourself.  Its fun!

The Christmas holidays are going to be upon us before we know it and we know many of you are already preparing. The Christmas paper and embellishments are flying off the shelves, but don’t worry, we have more on the way.  How many of you tend to forget about yourselves at this time of year? Well, how about giving your family and friends a gentle nudge this year by suggesting they look here to view your wish list. They will need your sign in email address to find your wish list. The wish list is under the ’home’ button.

Have you made your wish list?

Here is how  to create your wish list

Enter the website and click on ’shop’; options will then drop down. We went to new arrivals, have you been there lately ? Once you have found items you would like to add to your wish list, click on ‘add to wish list’ which sits under the ‘add to cart’ button. This will lead you to ‘create a wish list’. Scroll down to find it, then fill in your email address and a pass word and then up comes your selected item on your wish list. Done!

So encourage your family and friends to view your wish list if they struggle, just a bit, to find you a gift you will love. present2bAlternatively, Creative Hands has gift vouchers, so you can come and visit us in the new year.

We love to see you any time!

Hi everyone, I’m from the Philippines and married to a very supportive and loving husband. I have been living in Dubai for the last 5 years. Occasionally, we still go back to the Philippines for a vacation. I can say I came from an artistic family , my late father was a very good calligrapher, my aunt is a painter and photographer, whilst my sister and cousins are involved in architectural interior and landscape design. I have had a passion for arts and crafts since my student days enjoying embroidery but fell in love with crafting with paper when I learnt how to create 3D pictures.

Hero arts stamps

Welcome to where we will be encouraging you to chat with us about your papercrafting needs and share your creativity.

To celebrate our launch, we are offering our visitors to the shop 15% off the Hero Stamp collection. So pop along and tell us you have seen the blog and the offer is yours. As we get into the swing of blogging and sharing what we are up to, we hope you will feel encouraged to comment and help us support the papercrafting community of the U.A.E.

We want to offer you space on our blog to share what you are up to, whether that be hosting a ‘scrapbooking get together’ or an interesting project you are working on. Along the way we will be asking for your help, so look out for our ‘Reward’ posts, we will want to say thank you.

Our videos have been a learning curve for us and we hope you find them interesting. We are set to continue with our little film productions, so if there is anything you particularly want to see a video about, then let us know. Click on videos in the browse category section to view the ones we have done to date.

Tip: play the video by clicking on the play button, then click it again into pause and this will allow the video to load. You will see a line going across the bar and as it reaches the end the video will then play without interruption.

Do you want accurately created photo mats time and time again?

YES?

Then we have created the tool for you - Annais’ Easy Matting Guides

In 2004 we sat around a table with the beginnings of an idea that evolved in to the Easy Matting Guides, your solution to all the difficulties surrounding matting photographs accurately time and time again.

Do you struggle to see the tiny markings on rulers?

Do you want to speed up your matting ?

Do want to accurately position your decorative corner punches?

YES? Then watch our video demonstrating how to use them.

Thank you for watching.

Ladies love these tools so much they have bought two sets! To buy yours, pop over to Dubai Scrapbooking Shop. Add to Cart

A Tip: if you haven’t viewed videos before, click on the start, then again, to pause it. In a few moments a shadow will appear and start moving across the play slide – give this time to reach the end. This will give you uninterrupted viewing. Enjoy!

To Facebook or Twitter?

Today we went over to Facebook to make ourselves a button (a piece of flair). It is really easy, have you made yours yet? We may not stop with this one, we have an idea to make one for our ‘Reward’ posts!

Do you use Facebook or do you favour Twitter or both. We feel you can spend too much time on line and not get enough layouts done. How do you feel about the trend to communicate with short sentences about your day?

A few advantages do come to mind. Either site can store a record of what you have been up to and it ultimately becomes a resource for your journaling. Inspiration for your layouts is always to hand.

There is another advantage in that you can reconnect with friends, perhaps long forgotten. Chatting with them about days gone by, can also be a resource for layouts.

A bonus, we realised this morning, was the benefit of being connected to celebrities in the field of papercrafting. They can share some really helpful insights and links as they go about their day. Something you are likely to miss out on when you visit them on their blogs.  We are looking forward to sharing some of the things we have learnt as our blog develops.

Let us know what you think about this way of communicating and what have been the advantages for you.

DUBAI-IMPRESSIONS PAPER COLLECTION
Since 2006 we have been producing 12×12″ papers for the Dubai Impressions Collection and our third collection is now in store. Each collection represents artistic impressions of places to see and visit here in Dubai and other Emirates.

The collection is expanding and we want to involve you! The reward for your help is a Dhs200.00 Product Voucher to spend in our store or online site. The voucher will be awarded, to the papercrafter sending in a photograph our artist feels will enhance the collection the best.

All you have to do is look at the Dubai Impressions Collection and then look at your photographs; have we covered all the places to see and visit? Is there something that represents the culture and location that you would like to see in collection?

Then send us your photograph and a small piece about why we should include an artist impression of your photograph in our collection. We will look forward to seeing all your photographs.

Thank you and Good luck
